About me

Having started repairing and reconditioning bicycles at the age of fourteen as a hobby, I studied Engineering subjects at school and then took a degree in Materials Engineering at University.

This led to a career in Automotive Engineering working for Ford Motor Company.

During my career, I have maintained and serviced my own touring bicycle which I bought over 40 years ago and still use regularly today.

To supplement my knowledge of cycle engineering, I have completed an IMI course on cycle repair and maintenance.

After 15 years at Ford, I joined James Dyson’s new company in Malmesbury as a Materials Engineering Manager which gave me the opportunity to set up home in the Wiltshire countryside.

Following 5 years at Dyson, I was offered a position as a Project Engineer with Aston Martin in Warwickshire.  Travelling to and from work became more difficult and expensive so after 12 years there I decided to look for local contract work closer to my home.

Wiltshire is a quiet place without a lot of industry but one of the main attractions for me is the abundance of good quality cycling roads including the main Wiltshire Cycleway which runs through Yatton Keynell.

With this in mind, I have set up By Brook Cycle Care which opened on 1st December 2016 and serves the villages and towns local to my home in Yatton Keynell.

My aim is to encourage people of all ages to enjoy riding well-maintained, serviced and safe bicycles.
